Chapter 10: Come Bearing Gifts Video Transcript
Hi I’m Li Evans and I’m author of Social Media Marketing: Strategies for Engaging in Facebook, Twitter & Other Social Media. This book’s out on Que Press on June 24th, 2010 and you can find this video which is a series of videos called 45 Social Media Insights Over 45 Days on SMMarketingBook.com. What this series is, is highlighting a chapter of the book each day with three high level tips that you can choose to use in your own strategies or decide whether you want to buy the book or not. So let’s take a look at today’s chapter which is chapter number 10, Which is “Come Bearing Gifts“.
So what’s our first tip? Tip number one is “Understand What Is of Value in the Community“. In each community something is different, each community is different. There’s something that is of value that is different in each community. It could be a coupon, it could be an article that you are putting out there, it could even be a video that you are shooting that shows how to use the product or how to use your services in the most successful way. So remember you have to understand what’s of value to your community, that can be a gift.
Tip number two is that “Content Can Be Valuable“. Content – something simple and easy as a blog post. Or something that’s simple and easy that a printable top ten tips on how to use your product. These things are content that are able to be read and can be very valuable to communities and they might bookmark them and pass them around. So that’s where you can actually get some value from the value that you are giving to the community.
The final tip for today is tip number three “A Gift Needs to Be Unique“. So what I mean by this is that you shouldn’t be giving the same coupon that you are giving in a supermarket to a social media community. Every gift that you give should be unique to the community and then that way you can show “hey I’m listening to you and I understand what you are sharing with me is valuable, I would like to reward you”, and they will feel special if you make sure each gift is unique.
So those are your three tips for chapter 10 which is “Come Bearing Gifts” in the book Social Media Marketing: Strategies for Engaging in Facebook, Twitter & Other Social Media. I’m Li Evans, and I’ll be back tomorrow with another set of three tips in the series 45 Social Media Insights Over 45 Days and you can stop by SMMarketingBook.com to see tomorrow’s video.
